Do you give yourself permission to CHOMP? - by Pamela Hunter

chomp

Often we get annoyed around someone who CHOMPS.  You can hear every bite, every movement, and sometimes see the food moving around in their mouth!  Yuck!  Chomping is not necessary, but CHEWING your food is important and healthy!  In fact, it is within your mouth where digestion begins.  Chewing your food breaks down the big food particles into small, liquefied pieces as it mixes with saliva.  Chewing your food properly signals your body to release digestive enzymes in the stomach that help to break down food so that your body can convert it into energy.

This process helps the small intestines absorb the nutrients and energy from the food.  In the holistic world, we coach people to chew each bite 20 times before swallowing.  The act of chewing slows down your food intake making for a more relaxed mealtime.  When you relax as you eat, you eat less, digest better, and have an easier time maintaining a healthy weight or losing access weight.   A few helpful tips to help you relax into healthy digestion through the holidays:

1.     Enjoy CHEWING your food 20 times per bite!

2.     Experiment with Young Living Essential Oil of Peppermint to soothe and support your digestive system.  One drop of Peppermint is said to equal 28 cups of peppermint tea!

3.     For sluggish digestion, digestive enzyme supplements may help your body break down the food and convert it to energy.  Young Living Essential Oils has many enzyme choices with my favorites being:  Allerzyme and Essentialzyme-4

Cheers to happy families and digestive systems!

Does it bug you when you see people not chewing?
